» Indications
PeriAcryl® is indicated for use as a dental cement for bonding dental materials such as crowns, caps and pins.
» Description
PeriAcryl® is the n-butyl ester of the cyanoacrylate series. This compound
which exists in monomeric form in the plastic containers, polymerizes extremely
rapidly
in the presence of anions, especially of hydroxyl ions [in the presence of water].
It has the ability to adhere to moist living tissues. It demonstrates a favorable
tissue response and reveals no toxic or foreign body reaction in humans.
» Method
Be sure to examine the adhesive prior to beginning the procedure. Only adhesive
of a thin liquid consistency should be used. For the MULTIUSE KIT, grasp the
clear portions of the safety cap and twist to remove. For the MINI KIT, puncture
the end with the accompanying T-pin. Drop the required amount of adhesive into
one of the wells of the administration plate. Using the applicators provided,
draw up the adhesive and apply. Seal the end by replacing the T-pin. Do not allow
the pin to dwell in the adhesive as it will precipitate polymerization.
» UNIT OF USE KIT: clip the end of the preloaded applicator and apply as needed.
|
Hemostasis is important since excess blood may prevent proper
tissue adhesion.
Polymerization of PeriAcryl® produces
heat. This is insignificant as long as the adhesive is
applied in a very thin film.
» Contraindications
PeriAcryl® must not come into contact with the conjunctival sac since conglutination
may occur.
» Supplied
PeriAcryl® MULTIUSE KIT (regular) is supplied with 1 x 5 mL. bottle of adhesive,
one administration tray, and 50 applicators.
» PeriAcryl® MINI KIT is supplied
with one x 1 mL. vial of adhesive, one administration tray,
and 20 applicators.
» PeriAcryl® UNIT OF USE KIT is
supplied with 12 x 0.2 mL. of adhesive.
» Important Recommendations
Ideally, PeriAcryl® should be stored below 5° C., 40° F. Whenever the adhesive
is used, care must be taken that none splashes onto the cornea of the eye or
into the conjunctival sac, where it would cause adhesions.
