Tips on using PeriAcryl® |
| |
In order to achieve greater viscosity and a smoother finish, it is possible to mix PeriAcryl® (butyl cyanoacrylate), and GluSite® (octyl cyanoacrylate) together. For example, to create a 70% octyl 30% buty formulation. Use the tray, or any other receptacle and a pipette. Compress the bulb end of the pipette, and while compressing, position the distil tip directly into the opening of the purple material. With the bottle at a slight downward angle, release the compression allowing a small amount of the violet butyl to enter the pipette. Drop three drops into one of the wells/receptacle. Then, using a second pipette, do the same with the clear GluSite®. This time drop seven drops into the same well. To mix the two, use the same pipette, insert the tip in the well and squeeze and release the bulb end several times. Draw up the mixed formulation for your procedure. |

Glustitch® |
| |
In
Canada, GluStitch® is primarily indicated for the closure
of uncomplicated linear or curvilinear lacerations with little
or no tissue loss. Normally GluStitch® is used in areas
of low tension since the holding power of adhesive relative to
sutures is about 20%. In order to ensure that dehiscence does
not occur, repairs should also be secured using a tape strip
across the wound.
Tip: Try
using a tape strip to appose the wound edges before applying
the adhesive. "Spot weld" the laceration. Some physicians leave
the strip in place and apply the adhesive in two or three coats
over the entire area. Leaving the strip or strips in place adds
additional reinforcement to prevent dehiscence under stress.
Several coats should be applied allowing approximately ten seconds
of drying time between coats.
Availability:
- Unit if Use Kit: 12 x 0.2 mL. adhesive
- Multiuse Kit (Reg): 1 x 5 mL adhesive, 50 pipettes
- Minikit: 1 x 2 mL. adhesive,
20 pipettes.
All kits are available in either clear or violet. |
